Ideal boiler showing F2 in Coventry? On the Logic and Vogue ranges it means the flame was lost. Safe checks first, and what an engineer looks at.
If the hob will not light either, it is the supply. Prepayment meters run out quietly, and an empty one gives exactly this fault.
A frozen condensate pipe outside backs up and stops the boiler. Warm water along the pipe, then one reset, clears most of them.
Hold the reset as the manual describes. If F2 returns, leave it off rather than trying again and again.
An engineer checks gas pressure, the flame sensing electrode, the fan and the flue. Usually a single part, not a whole boiler.
No - losing the flame makes the boiler shut down safely. Smell gas? Leave the house, do not use switches, and call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999. A fault code is never a gas leak, but a smell always is.
Tell whoever changed it. Supply pressure after meter work is a known cause, and it is theirs to put right.
Ask for the Gas Safe ID card and look at the back, which lists what they are signed off for.
